The Magical, Musical Ice Tree
I am Hemved.
I am the biggest tree in the great North Forest.
I stand under the stars.
I stand on the Earth.
I am as old as the sea.
I am as big as a mountain.
I am as strong as a rock.
I am Hemved. I am the home tree.
Chapter 1: Whippersnappers are Snaps
The Whippersnappers are as big as squirrels.
Whippersnappers is a long name. Their other name is Snaps.
Snaps live in Hemved.
Hemved is the biggest tree in the great North Forest.
Snaps have two tails. They have a bottom tail and a head tail.
In Autumn, Snaps find food. They love berries! Blueberries, raspberries and cloudberries! Snaps collect and dry mushrooms. Dry mushrooms are good to eat all year.
In Winter, Snaps sing songs and read books.
In Spring, Snaps clean and make mushroom soup.
In summer, Snaps play games and put flowers on their tails. They love to jump into lakes.




Under Hemved is a big library. Griselda is a hedgehog. She is the librarian.
Snaps write the stories of the forest. Thousands of stories.
Chapter 2: Four friends
From left to right. This is Boo, Beck, Fex and Velamsund. You can call Velamsund, Vel.
Boo and Beck are twins.
Vel loves to learn.
Fex loves music.
The twins love playing with ducks.



It is winter.
In three days is the longest night of the year.
The Snaps have a big party – the Deep Winter Party.
At the Deep Winter party, Snaps eat lots of food, dance to music and play lots of fun games.
